Understanding Islam: Should Islam liberalize its view of women's rights?
Article Abstract:
Omid Safi, associate professor, Islamic studies, University of North Carolina, and Stephen Schwartz, executive director, Center for Islamic Pluralism, have given their views on whether Islam should liberalize its views of women's rights. Safi believes that it is just a matter of recognizing that women are divine creation intended to fully possess rights and privileges, whereas Schwartz believes that social problems in Islam countries reflect local culture and history, not the Islamic faith.

Should prosecutors be allowed to promise defendants leniency in return for testifying against an accused accomplice?
Article Abstract:
Plea bargaining is a necessary tool for prosecutors to successfully conclude certain cases. Although investigative efforts are becoming more sophisticated and accurate through technological advances, some crimes defy such methods and are not able to be solved unless plea bargaining is permitted. It allows the prosecution access to reliable witnesses that can provide legitimate testimony.
