Hiring away
Article Abstract:
Top officials at Wisconsin Energy Corp (WEC) launched a major reengineering project in 1994 in an effort to enhance the company's overall services, particularly information technology (IT) functions. The program did not only provide an attractive and efficient platform for its IT department, but resulted in an increased IT hiring level, as well. One of the most notable features of the initiative is the adoption of a new compensation system, which makes use of market reference points for determining the salaries of IT professionals.
