Codes of ethics: investment company money managers versus other financial professionals
Article Abstract:
The growth of finance managed by professionals has increased in private and public pension funds and investment companies, especially in mutual funds. Rule 17j-1 adopted by the Security and Exchange Commission provides an ethical codes for mutual fund companies and money managers. Maintaining the investors trust requires universal application and public disclosure of the codes of business ethics. Events such as the 1987 stock market crash has shaken investor confidence in money managers. The introduction of derivatives and synthetic instruments by some managers led to losses in 1994.

The corruption of financial markets: Systemic inevitability or aberration?
Article Abstract:
Details regarding some of the companies like Enron, WorldCom, Tyco, Andersen and J.P. Morgan are given, which are implicated in ethnically questionable activities, resulting in fines or criminal convictions. The unethical behavior of these companies involved some aspect of finance from manipulating special purpose entities to show growth, to instituting questionable tax, dodges, to allowing investment decisions to color the objectivity of investment research and advice.
