Changing dynamics in Korea-Japan economic relations: Policy ideas and development strategies
Article Abstract:
The hierarchical economic relationship between Korea and Japan has gradually unraveled since mid-1980 as Korea began to build a competitive economic structure and with the emergence of new policy ideas and development strategies in Korea play pivotal in bringing about the dramatic turnaround. The pattern of Korea's incoming foreign direct investment also indicates the disintegration of vertical specialization between Korea and Japan.

Economic crisis and changes in employment relations in Japan and Korea
Article Abstract:
Changes in employment systems in Japan and Korea following the economic crisis of the 1990s are explored using the review, analysis and interpretation of statistics from both the countries. Significant changes as well as continuities that reflect similarities and differences in both the Japanese and Korean employment systems are observed.

Changing trends of work in South Korea: The rapid growth of underemployment and job insecurity
Article Abstract:
The change in the nature of work since the 1997 financial crisis in South Korea is examined. It is demonstrated that a majority of workers have since then become irregular workers, that people's perception of work has changed and that the changing trends of work have impacted the quality of life.
