Explaining North Korea's negotiated cooperation with the U.S
Article Abstract:
Positive progress in North Korea's relations with the US is a product of the former's efforts to avoid repercussions of non-abidance with policies on nuclear disarmament. Another contributory factor to the improved relations is the US' awareness of the other country's administrative stewards' need to protect themselves from potential menace both within and outside its territory. The decline of socialism in other countries had isolated North Korea from its former communist allies, such that it had no other recourse but to seek the protection from its ideological opponent, the US.

The United States and the endgame in Korea: assessment, scenarios, and implications
Article Abstract:
Conditions in the Korean peninsula forebode a regional security crisis. Problems arising from strife within the armed forces, spreading of famine, as well as, growing tensions due to North Korea's ignoring of nuclear disarmament agreements have led to further deterioration of reunification efforts with South Korea. A major obstacle for reconciliation is the uncertain lot of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, his party and the communist army. Cooperation cannot be expected from them. It is, therefore, imperative that the US be prepared for any negative eventualities.

The 'China' threat issue
Article Abstract:
The possible threats in the emergence of China as a giant power in the Asia-Pacific region has become a controversial topic. The 'China threat' issue is therefore addressed by presenting arguments for and against it. A theoretical classification is also demonstrated between two types of arguments. These arguments may or may not take into consideration strategists' and policy makers' objectives. Three general responses to the 'China threat' are also recommended: enmeshment, appeasement and containment.
