The poetry and autobiography of the Babur-nama
Article Abstract:
The text and the context of the art and life of Mogul emperor Babur can be located in the verses of his memoir Babur-nama, and in his 'diwan' or volume of Turki poetry, which should be read as autobiographies. The existential poems, which can be located among the collection of 118 ghazals or short poems and more than 200 'rubai' or quatrains, portray Babur's unconventional life and personality. Babur's verses point to a creative contrast between prose and poetry, and life and literature. Babur's vivid descriptions of natural beauty reflects his love for metaphorical poetic garden.

The (hi)story of their lives: mythic autobiography and "The Lost Generation."
Article Abstract:
The validity of autobiography as a source for historical research has been questioned because of its individual focus, lack of objectivity and unconfirmable nature. However, if autobiography is used as cultural myth, then similarities among numerous stories can reveal social situations that cannot be portrayed by the facts of the situation. A good example is the response of the Lost Generation to that description and how their experience with fewer people of their generation affected them.
