Corticotropin-dependent Cushing's syndrome in older people: presentation of five cases and therapeutical use of ketoconazole

Article Abstract:

Three patients suspected of having pituitary-dependent Cushing's syndrome underwent successful clinical and biochemical treatment with the steroidogenesis inhibitor, ketoconazole. This treatment may be more a valuable treatment than surgery to control hypercorticism in elderly patients.

Walking speed and stride length predicts 36 months dependency, mortality, and institutionalization in Chinese aged 70 and older

Article Abstract:

A study of whether simple performance measures such as walking speed and stride length predict dependency, mortality and institutionalization in the aged concludes that these check effectively for occult disease and for interventional measures such as exercise prescrioption.
