Two horse chase
Article Abstract:
The growth and development of Spain's shipbuilding industry lies on the fate of AESA and Boluda, two of the country's most promising shipbuilders. Despite the dominant share acquired by these companies in the local shipbuilding market, their impact on the economy remains limited due to the fact that they concentrate on small-scale operations. Boluda is actually a new entrant in the Spanish business, having risen from the acquisition of Union Naval de Levante group.

Article Abstract:
The shipbuilding industry reported an increase of about 21% in newbuilding tonnage in 1995 over 1994 figures to 34,504,792 deadweight tons. Japan led all shipbuilding nations with a 43% share of the total deadweight delivered in 1995. South Korea, Germany and Denmark also maintained their profitability during this period. This trend can be attributed to the forthcoming implementation of the OECD agreement on shipbuilding subsidies.
