Committing to energy-efficiency

Article Abstract:

New technologies have been developed to cut down the energy consumption of lighting fixtures without sacrificing illumination. Occupancy sensors were designed to turn off the lightif no motion is detected within a given time and distance. The wall or ceiling-mounted sensors will turn on the lights when motion is detected. On theother hand, daylight sensors were designed to reduce indoor lighting automatically depending on the availability of natural light.

Lighting software

Article Abstract:

Lumen Micro is a computer software which allows lighting designers greater flexibility in planning their designs without need for constructing expensive mock-ups. The program enables designers to simulate the effect of artificial lighting systems as well as evaluate the impact of natural lighting at different times of the day. The program presents lighting design analysis using a numerical grid, a contour grid and a shaded perspective image.
