MKK7 is an essential component of the JNK signal transduction pathway activated by proinflammatory cytokines

Article Abstract:

Research shows that mitogen-activated protein kinases, MKK4 and MKK7, are involved in the activation of c-Jun NH(sub)2-terminal kinase. However, they serve different functions in that while simultaneous disruption of MKK4 and MKK7 prevents c-Jun activation, MKK7 controls cytokine mediated activation of c-Jun.

Requirement of the JIP1 scaffold protein for stress-induced JNK activation

Article Abstract:

The need of the JIP1 scaffold protein for stress-induced c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK) activation is discussed. JIP1 is in the neurites of primary hippocampal neurons but in response to stress accumulates in the soma with activated JNK and phosphorylated c-Jun.

JNK initiates a cytokine cascade that causes Pax2 expression and closure of the optic fissue

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on c-Jun NH (sub)2 -terminal kinase (JNK) group of mitogen-activated protein kinases. The authors report that JNK initiates cytokine cascade of bone morphogenetic protein-4 and sonic hedgehog which induces transcription factor Pax2 expression.
