zur: a Zn(super.2+)-responsive regulatory element of Staphylococcus aureus

Article Abstract:

A Staphylococcus aureus Zn(super.2+)-responsive regulatory element is discussed. The putative operon, zur, and components of an ABC-type transporter have been characterized, and it appears zur has no role in pathogenicity in a lesion model of S. aureus infection..

Starvation survival in Listeria monocytogenes: characterization of the response and the role of known and novel components

Article Abstract:

Research demonstrates that Listeria monocytogenes responds to nutritional stress by synthesizing or utilizing regulators SigB and PrfA and newly synthesized components of the starvation survival response system.

Characterization of AcmB, an N-acetylglucosaminidase autolysin from Lactococcus lactis

Article Abstract:

Research reveals that the autolysin AcmB from Lactococcus lactis exhibits a modular structure with an N-terminal -, a central-, and a C-terminal domain. Data indicate that AcmB shows N-acetylglucosaminidase specificity and participates in cellular autolysis.
