Data 83: Australia's Business Computer Exhibition

Article Abstract:

DATA 83, the annual Australian business computer exhibition, will hold shows in Sydney in May 1983 and in Melbourne in November. Seminars are to be held in conjunction with the shows. Exhibitors listings, including company names, addresses, and some product descriptions are given. Security equipment, printers and furniture are among the displays, but the majority are computers and software. Among the systems are Cromemco distrubuted by Minicomp, Sanyo's hard-disk DataFile storage extender, Telecom's communication system, Overseas Telecommunication's Midas service, HiNet networking system, Telxon Australia's modular transaction system, plus extensive Apple and Tandy lines.

Article Abstract:

USERTAB, designed by the National Computer Center (NCC) in the United Kingdom, has been launched in Australia with the help of NCC consultant Mrs. Christine Stanford. Data that has previously been stored may be selectively retrieved and printed for various aspects of business including production, marketing, sales and purchases. USERTAB runs on ICL and IBM mainframes and can be used by those speaking English, French, German, Spanish and Dutch.

Article Abstract:

The Data 1983 Business Computer Exhibit was held in November in Melbourne, Australia. Besides the display of computers, communication systems, accessories, and other equipment, seminars were held on choosing computer systems, computers in manufacturing, and office automation. A small number of the exhibitors and their products are listed.
