AUSTRIA: JOINT VENTURE OF COOPERATIVE BANKS
Article Abstract:
On 15 September 2000 six European cooperative banks, among them OVAG, the central institute of Volksbank banks in Austria, are to set up an investment bank joint venture. The Vienna-based institute called Banques Populaires Investconsult GmbH will assist companies in operations in eastern Europe, cooperating with national investment companies. Banques Populaires Investconsult GmbH is said to be the first international joint venture of cooperative banks in Europe.

AUSTRIA: BNP PARIBAS OPENS REPRESENTATION

BNP Paribas has inaugurated its representative office in Vienna. The big French bank targets big clients such as banks and insurance and energy companies. BNP Paribas managed for Erste Bank a share issue of EUR 1bn, which is said to be the biggest share issue of a non-state-owned issuer in Austria.
