Contract help

Article Abstract:

The Democratic Union coalition victory in Mongolia followed a carefully composed campaign designed by election strategists from the International Republican Institute based in Washington. IRI experts had to convince battling opposition forces to form a coalition and they then set about educating candidates and supports about grassroots party building and membership recruitment. The Contract With the Mongolian Voter was the basis of the democrats' manifesto, which encouraged foreign investment, and called for free private property rights and a free press.

The country's government is adopting a business-friendly approach and believes that the crude oil may assist in the transition from socialism to capitalism. US concern Soco International has already won exploration rights to 40,000 sq km of land on the Tamsag Basin in Mongolia.
