Enhancing public participation in natural resource management using Soft OR-an application of strategic option development and analysis in tactical forest planning

Article Abstract:

A case study where a modified version of strategic option development and analysis (SODA) is applied to enhance the level of citizens' participation in a strategic forest management process is presented. The result shows that SODA can improve public participation dimension and provide a feasible platform for wider integration of stakeholders groups in the tactical planning process.

Cognitive mapping expert views for policy analysis in the public sector

Article Abstract:

The use of cognitive mapping techniques for policy analysis in UK Home Office Prison Department is reported. The analysis makes use of the specially designed computer software, Decision Explorer and suggests general implications for the way in which policy analysis is conducted.

A returns policy for distribution channel coordination of perishable items

Article Abstract:

Various inventory policies adopted by the retailer for a perishable product and the benefits and costs of accepting returns from distributors is discussed. The effects of the two issuing polices, LIFO and FIFO, are investigated through the development of mathematical models.
