The movie industry purchase was being negotiated with General Electric Co.'s NBC Universal for months. But when negotiations slowed Tom Freston from Viacom Inc. snapped the deal over sandwiches with Steven Spielberg at Mr. Spielberg's home by the Pacific Ocean.

DreamWorks Animation S.K.G Inc. of the United States posted a first quarter 73 percent fall in profit of $12.3 million compared to $45.7 million last year. DVD sales of "Wallace & Gromit" were not growing. All DVD sales were down, hurting earnings.
