Quick fait tat de 'signes encourageants'

Article Abstract:

Quick, the Belgian fast food subsidiary of GIB Group, the Belgian retail group, made a BFr 17.3bn in sales in the first half of 1998, compared with BFr 11.9bn was made in the first half of 1997, and BFr 5.4bn was made from sales as such as from franchise products. The group also posted a loss of BFr 109mn compared with a profit of BFr 14mn for the same period in 1997. The 21% drop in operating profits is due to the rise in personnel costs in France, and by the cost related to improvement in service and restaurant management in Belgium. The group plans to open another 25 restaurants by the end of 1998 - 22 in France, and 3 in Belgium. The group expects to make a 2% growth in sales, with number of stores held constant, by cutting costs.
