The textile washing products market in the two countries has drop by 0.2% in nominal terms from 1993 to 1997. Real performance of the market, however, shows a 9.2% decline over the review period, from BF13,260 million to BF12,038 million. The drop in market value is accounted to the increasing rivalry and improved concentrated detergents and softeners penetration.

The softeners sector has decline by 4.8% in value, while the others sector has registered an increase of 6.7% during the review period. The overall market, however, has dropped by 4% over the review period.
