Tiny oil firm sets sights on Iraq

Gulfsands Petroleum Ltd. is taking a "back-door approach" to gaining a presence in Iraq's oil sector. The company hopes to take advantage of the opportunity in Iraq, once that country's oil leadership decides on the development of its oil reserves.

Iraq faces new hurdle in push to export oil

Article Abstract:

North Oil Co.'s head, Adil al Qazzaz, said that a major oil pipeline that runs from the southern part of Iraq to the northern part cannot be repaired until the end of 2003. The comment represents another setback for Iraqi oil exports.

China and Japan court Russians over oil pipeline

Officials in Japan and China are renewing attempts to gain support from Russia for an oil pipeline. The proposed pipeline would run from eastern Siberia to either China's or Russia's Pacific coastline.
