Convergence creates new executive breed

Article Abstract:

The convergence of computer, telephony and video technologies and industries have created employment opportunities for executives who demonstrate cross-functional, inter-disciplinary skills. According to William D. Simon of Korn Ferry International, the trend is reflected in their customers' preferences for the 1993 period. During the period, he said, demand was high for executives with 'experience in strategic planning, operations, multimedia' as well as contacts and creativity.

'Knowledge workers' alter managers' style

Article Abstract:

The ascendancy of so-called 'knowledge workers' poses two critical challenges to business marketers. One is the responsibility of adapting their leadership style in a way that is suitable to a workforce that is increasingly becoming knowledge-oriented, one that is made up of well-educated and self-motivated employees. The other challenge is to adjust marketing so that it is relevant to a business environment where knowledge workers dominate in the purchase-decision process.

Create smart clients to spur bottom line

Article Abstract:

The days when companies delighted in customers who ran to them for every little need are long gone. Although it may seem cold and insensitive, a growing number of marketers are realizing that it is more advantageous to cull such customers as they have a detrimental impact on customer service efforts. However, the best way to minimize the cost of customer service is to educate the company's customer base and make them more knowledgeable about available services.
