FCS to award active-protection system pact

Article Abstract:

Future Combat Systems (FCS) program officials plan to select a subcontractor by the end of 2005, to design and implement an active protection system (APS) which would included short- and long-range defense systems to protect the cutting-edge platforms that make up FCS. The FCS program officials have released a request-for-proposals to industry related to the APS calling for prospective designers of APS.

Army active protection pact due soon

Article Abstract:

Leaders of the Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) modernization project stated that the Army program officials are expected to finalize a deal by end of March 2006 to provide an active protection system (APS) to defend army vehicles. The Army intends to deploy the new APS technology on its cutting-edge platforms planned for the FCS program.

FCS, future force to need enhanced links: Army to solicit industry consortium to build better network

Article Abstract:

The U.S. Army is putting a priority on building a better network as the Future Combat Systems (FCS) and the future force will depend on a data link of extraordinary complexity and capability. FCS is the Army's top modernization project that is planned to consist of 18 separate cutting edge components, including manned and robotic vehicles.
