Unique attractions pull in the tourists

Article Abstract:

The tourist economy of Manchester, England, has been valued at over 419 million pounds sterling. Theme parks attract many visitors, but they tend to spend little per head, and the Manchester Marketing Visitor and Convention Bureau aims to attract higher spenders. This is possible due to the city's airport. Tours have been organized to surrounding areas of interest and the city also aims to develop as a center for culture and the arts. Hotels are also being built and occupancy rates have risen.

Article Abstract:

Large national surveyors are moving into Manchester, England. They include Jones Lang Wootton and Hillier Parker. The real estate market is more buoyant in Manchester than in London, England. Local companies argue that the national firms will not stay more than five years in Manchester. There are over 50 surveying firms in Manchester and the figure increases threefold for the Greater Manchester area. Companies are having to compete on price and some may be pushed out of business.

A boon for professional services

Article Abstract:

The UK Private Finance Initiative (PFI) offers opportunities for banks, surveyors and other suppliers of professional services. A PFI equity fund has been launched, the Innisfree PFI Fund, which has located a number of potential opportunities in the form of 40 PFI projects. Law firms are also benefiting from PFI, with McKenna and Co advising on railroad privatization. Surveyors should find PFI a useful source of income, as should UK banks.
