US: PRINTING INKS GROWTH IN 1998

Article Abstract:

Demand for printing inks in the US is forecast to continue to grow in 1999. In 1998 sales increased 5%, compared with 5.2% in 1997 and 4.1% in 1996. In 1998 the sales of offset printing inks amounted to US$ 1.875bn (up 4.2%), flexo printing inks US$ 895mn (up 6.5%), rotogravure inks US$ 745mn (up 2.8%), serigraphic inks US$ 335mn (up 6.2%), computer printing inks US$ 145mn (up 21%), specialist printing inks US$ 110mn (up 10%) and book printing inks US$ 100mn (unchanged).

GERMANY: GROWTH EXPECTED IN ADHESIVE MARKET

Article Abstract:

An annual growth of up to 3.5% is expected in the German market for adhesives and sealing technologies until 2001, according to Werner Gruber from the coating factory Teroson . While a decline to 18,500 t is expected in the sales of formaldehyde products, largest growth is forecast for UV-cured adhesives (80,000 t), anaerobics (77,000 t), cyanoacrylates (105,000 t) and polyurethanes (13,400 t).
