Variable-angle time-resolved evanescent wave-induced fluorescence spectroscopy (VATR-EWIFS): a technique for concentration profiling fluorophores at dielectric interfaces

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the concentration distributions of fluorescein and acridine orange at a water/silica interface using variable-angle time-resolved evanescent wave-induced fluorescence spectroscopy. The aqueous solutions were prepared using distilled deionized water while concentrations were determined from absorbance measurements. Results indicated that the spectroscopy technique can be utilized to quantitatively determine the concentration depth distribution of simple dye molecules at water/silica interfaces.

Electric field effects on absorption and fluorescence spectra of trimethylsilyl- and trimethylsilylethynyl-substituted compounds of pyrene in a PMMA film

Article Abstract:

The electric field effects on absorption and fluorescence spectra of 1,3,6,8-tetrakis(trimethylsilyl)pyrene (TMSPy) and 1,3,6,8-tetrakis(trimethylsilylethynyl)pyrene (TMS(E)Py) in a poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) film with varying temperatures and concentrations are examined. Studies have shown that only one species of the partially overlapping excimer is confirmed in TMSPy, whereas no partially overlapping excimer is confirmed in TMS(E)Py.

Dynamic and static fluorescence spectroscopy applied to miscibility of poly (n-butylmethacrylate-co-styrene) with polystyrene and morphological analysis by epifluorescence microscopy

Article Abstract:

An investigation was carried out to examine the microphase structure in blends of poly (n-butylmethacrylate-co-styrene) (nBMAS) and polystyrene (PS) by nonradiative energy transfer (NRET) using both steady-state fluorescence and time correlated single-photon counting (TCSPC) measurements. Intermolecular correlation among the donors and traps used to analyze the interchain structures in homogenous blends and in blends with phase separation.
