IS professionals learn new tricks

Article Abstract:

Companies are increasingly relying on nontraditional education centers that offer services such as customized training, classes at the workplace and advanced degrees, in training IT staff. Companies benefit from this arrangement since the IT skills of their employees are improved while employees are trained on company time. According to Eric Munro, director of the Center for Corporate Education, corporations that train their employees this way have a bigger pool of potential managers. Among them is Phil Eichman, MIS manager at Ryerson Tull, who is taking a 10-week project management course at Keller Graduate School.
