Network Assoc., others pursue buying strategy

Article Abstract:

Network Assoc Inc's purchase of Magic Solutions Inc reflects an aggressive acquisition strategy whose roots can be traced to the merger of Network General and McAfee Assoc, Network Assoc's parent companies. The goal of such a strategy is to strengthen a company's product lines by ensuring the successful integration of new information technology (IT) infrastructures. While Network Assoc has decided to maintain its standards, it works closely with the new company's IT department during the acquisition to make sure that deadlines are met in resolving differences.
