Carbite Golf of San Diego, CA, has announced that it will reduce outsourced marketing campaigns in an effort to curtail operating costs and increase profitability. The iron golf clubs maker has decided to freeze funds that finance an informercial yet to be fully deployed and a number of telemarketing campaigns. Company officials believe that marketing expenditures contributed to the the more than $700,000 loss it posted in 2nd qtr 2000.

DRTV Begins Slow Road to Recovery

Immediately after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack, all direct marketing via television halted, along with phoned-in orders. Only now are orders recovering, with orders running at about 60 percent of normal. Television stations are even offering bonuses to entice companies to resume advertising.
