TelZero launches targeted telephone advertising service

Article Abstract:

Fort Lauderdale, FL-based TelZero Inc has launched a service which enables consumers to make free long-distance calls provided they listen to targeted advertisements played through their telephones. Initially, the service will be available in the Broward, Dade and Palm Beach counties in Florida although there are plans to roll it out throughout continental US. A basic rate of four cents is charged for a 15-second commercial.

Provider tests auto insurance mailing

Article Abstract:

Mutual of Omaha, an insurance provider, is testing its auto insurance mailing using the TargetSource database from ICOM Information & Communications Inc. The auto-insurance test, which started Sep 1999, marks Mutual of Omaha's first venture in marketing auto insurance through direct mail. An entire senior-age insurance file from Mutual of Omaha was matched by ICOM against the database it formed from its survey-generated database of 15 million US households.
