Lands' End will test fall books for Web response

Article Abstract:

Lands' End will distribute various mail-order catalogs to determine which type drives the biggest volume of traffic to its Web site and boost telephone orders. The Wisconsin mail-order house is considering sending smaller books of 100 pages or lesser to onliner customers instead of the usual 164-page book. A spokeswoman for Lands' End said the plan will not only gauge customers' reaction but will also reduce catalog production costs.
