Amazon.com agrees to charge NextCard

Article Abstract:

Amazon.com Inc, the Seattle, WA-based e-retailing giant, agreed to grant NextCard Inc exclusive rights to market a co-branded visa card through its shopping site in exchange for up to $150 million in fees over five years. The deal, which starts in early 2000, will help boost the revenue of Amazon, which posted total sales of $610 million in 1998. The transaction also allows NextCard to pay less depending on how many new accounts it secures through the deal.

Launching a Web bookstore? It's the prices, stupid

AllBooks4Less.com Inc of Hauppauge, NY, which was launched on Nov 14, 1999, intends to compete with the giants of online book selling by offering the lowest prices. The company has challenged visitors to its Web site to find a price lower than those posted for about 30,000 to 35,000 titles in its inventory. Consumers who happen to find a price lower than the one found on AllBooks4Less' list are allowed to name their own price for the book title.
