Motor Boating and Sailing changing hands

Article Abstract:

Times Mirror Magazines of New York, NY, has entered into an agreement to purchase Motor Boating and Sailing magazine from Hearst Corp. The decision to add Motor Boating and Sailing to two other titles, namely, Yachting and Saltwater Sportsman, is in line with Times Mirror's commitment to buy strong brands in attractive markets that fit in with its outdoor enthusiast editorial focus. Motor Boating and Sailing's editorial staff will be housed with Yachting's editorial staff in Greenwich, CT, but they will remain totally independent of each other.

Ferretti buys Bertram, will expand model line

Article Abstract:

Bertram Yacht Inc of Miami, FL, has been bought by Italian boatbuilder and offshore racing enthusiast Norberto Ferretti for an undisclosed amount. Ferretti has acquired the company from Intek SpA, a Milan, Italy-based industrial management conglomerate. Bertram Yacht president Toni Speciale will be replaced by the start of 1999, said a company spokesperson. The new owner, meanwhile, plans to expand Bertram's model lineup.

Luxury yachtbuilders Queenship, Admiral Marine join forces

Vancouver, British Columbia-based Queenship Yacht Works has announced its acquisition of Port Angeles, WA-based Admiral Marine Works which is expected to be beneficial for both companies. Admiral is a leader in the development and application of advanced methods and materials while Queenship has the discipline and the ability to fully take advantage of Admiral's accomplishments. The merger is expected to create a new benchmark for building luxury motoryachts in North America.
