Redesign turns flawed plan into sales success

Article Abstract:

The redesign of the Cypress plan at the Boulder Ridge community in Lake in the Hills, IL, saved it from being a total disaster in terms of sales. The original plan featured cramped spaces, interrupted sight lines and a disjointed layout. Bloodgood Sharp Buster Architects corrected the oversights and designed a new plan featuring open spaces, better zoning and improved sight lines. The interiors were also remodelled with a warm traditional motiff that appealed more to buyers than the original southwestern design. The new Cypress plan has generated 11 sales since its introduction to the market.

German aerated concrete block in first U.S. applications

Article Abstract:

Hebel Corp has introduced aerated concrete blocks for use as building material into the US market. The block is lightweight and easy to form, thereby facilitating on-site construction. Its other properties include energy efficiency, fire resistance and low sound transmission. The material has been used in Europe, Australia and Japan and will be used for the first time in the US by developer Raimund Herden. The first aerated concrete luxury home community will be situated at Sunset Beach at Bluewater Bay, FL.
