Article Abstract:

Chris Gilmour, an architect and director of Kyle Stewart, a contractor, has welcomed the Reading university design-and-built report which calls on such firms to embrace architecture and architects. Kyle Stewart is unusual in having 100 designers and has recently integrated its design and construction teams to become more client focused. Gilmour joined Kyle Stewart to focus on design and benefit from their expertise on D&B procurement.

Education sector seeks private partners

Article Abstract:

The Department of Education is holding a series of large conferences as part of its efforts to attract private finance for new facilities for schools, colleges and universities. It has already made a number of rule changes to boost private investment in all types of educational work, and hopes that the Private Finance Initiative (PFI) will attract funding for a wide range of facilities.

Re-opening steel

Article Abstract:

Some UK steel window manufacturers repair existing 20s and 30s windows which is up to 80% cheaper than replacing them. Problems of old steel window frames are excessive paint build-up, warping and corosion. Existing frames can be shot blasted and hot-dipped galvanised before being primed or powder coated. OCS and Cotswold Casement offer this repair service.
