WWT in Belgium, UK launch, plans Eurowide growth

Article Abstract:

Williams Worldwide Television (WWT) recently forged infomercial deals with Le Tele Achat (LTA), a new Belgian home shopping channel that began in early May 1998 and reaches 1.3 million French-speaking subscribers. The deal marks the first time Williams went on a British terrestrial station. The company promoted products on Channel 5 in the UK, such as an engine oil additive, Motor Up, Murad cosmetics and a total gym infomercial that features Chuck Norris and Christie Brinkley. LTA, which broadcasts 24 hours a day, is reportedly the first direct response channel with local government financial support.

Equifax spends $350 million in Brazil

Article Abstract:

Equifax invested $350 million into the acquisitions of three firms based in Brazil that will give it a dominant stake in the consumer credit information and credit card industries of Brazil. Equifax used $200 million of that amount to buy the biggest consumer credit information firm in Brazil named Seguranca ao Credito e Informacoes. Equifax bought 34% of the second biggest information technology outsourcing company in Brazil called PROCEDA. In addition, Equifax purchased 59% of the bankcard and private label processor UNNISA of Brazil.

German post to expand Pan-European network

Article Abstract:

The Deutsche Post AG is eyeing the parcel and logistics business of the Netherlands' Royal Nedlloyd for $573.1 million. The deal, which still need the approval of the European Commission, is the latest of the German Post's moves to build a pan-European parcel distribution network. The German Post so far has spent a total of more than $5 billion over the past six months acquiring a stake in or buying outright foreign distribution firms.
