Pointing the camera at the big shots

Article Abstract:

The UK film industry has received critical acclaim, with 23 Oscar nominations in 1993. Film audiences are continuing to increase, but only 6% of films shown in the UK are British. Lack of government support is often cited as the reason for the decline of the UK film industry. The US is perceived as dominating both film-making and distribution. UK films have traditionally not been given wide circulation in the US, apart from 1990's successes "The Crying Game' and 'Howards End.'

Flying standard for quality

Article Abstract:

Quality assessment in higher education began in 1992. There are three levels to be considered; the organisation set up to ensure quality, the management of those systems and finally how quality percolates down at teaching level. Some visits have been made to look at courses, student assessment and feedback amongst other criteria. Some problems were found in the initial visits.
