UK market worth UKPd10 billion
Article Abstract:
The educational and training services sector in the UK is worth over UKPd10 bil/yr in the global market, putting its export value on a level with the financial services sector, according to research commissioned by the British Council and under taken by Geraint Johnes. Higher education accounts for over UKPd4 bil of the total, while higher education accounts for UKPd620 mil. However, there are fears that the actions of rogue private operators in the UK could cause other, reputable, British operations to lose their grip on the market.

UK told to expand provision overseas
Article Abstract:
The British Council has warned universities in the United Kingdom that they will need to expand courses for foreign students provided in their own countries if they are to remain competitive in the global market for students. There are currently over 200,000 international students taking UK courses overseas and that this sector is growing by 5%/yr.

Almost three quarters of 1,200 university staff responding to a career plans survey by The Times Higher and i-Graduate said they worried about their work and half said expectations of senior staff were a source of distress. Lecturers and tutors suffer the highest levels of anxiety, with 81 percent being worried about their jobs.
