There has been much development in electrostatic, laser, thermal and inkjet plotting and printing technologies over the past few years, with inkjet dominating the market. Hewlett Packard's DesignJet 755CM allows printing directly from PC and Mac applications, and offers colour management software. CalComp's TechJET 175i uses Intelligent Ink Delivery System (12DS) which monitors ink supply and flow.

Siloxane coatings hold key to metal protection: a novel coating strategy has the potential to revolutionise adhesive bonding and metal finishing processes

Siloxanes, based on silicone chemistry, have helped develop a simple mechanical treatment for metal surfaces, more than doubling adhesive bond peel strength. Siloxanes are non-toxic and are easy to handle and provide a good adhesive key for coatings. The Surf-Tech process uses abrasive particles and free organo siloxanes.

Article Abstract:

Issues are presented concerning the development of a black anodised coating which can be applied to aluminium alloys in order to facilitate radiative heat transfer. Other coatings produced by Fujikura Europe are also discussed.
