Motor technology slashes compressor energy costs: a new compressor technology could set new benchmarks in control and power-saving

Article Abstract:

A new DC-driven motor can be more closely controlled than AC induction motors, without the problems of high current phase switching. The accurate control means that DC motors are ideal for compressors, and a smaller version is already in used in a washing machine. AC inductance motors are limited in the number of times they can be switched on and off, usually countered by a run-on period, but the new unit has a soft start ability and it has a wide operational range.

Telecommunication aids RF technology

Article Abstract:

Petrie Technologies has developed a range of RF heating systems which can greatly reduce process times. The systems, developed using telecommunication equipment, allow precise control of the RF process and ensure that the control gear can be situated away from the process machinery. They offer high levels of energy efficiency, and their controls can be connected by using PLCs and man/machine interfaces.
