Quality assurance in food and agribusiness supply chains: developing successful partnerships

Article Abstract:

Food supply chains adopt vertical coordination to gain competitive edge amid rapidly changing markets, technological innovations and global competition. Among motives for vertical integration are the reduction of transaction costs, reduction of risk, improved ability to innovate and differentiate, better market position and more efficient exchange of information and organizational structures. On the other hand, vertical integration may have a number of disadvantages such as reduced flexibility and high demand on capital. The ability to develop successful partnerships determines the actual competitiveness of food supply chains.

The impact of process control technology on Turkish chemical industry

Article Abstract:

The usage of process control technology (PCT) by the Turkish chemical industry led to the improvement of production performance of the companies. Production accuracy, safety, quality and reliability are also increased. In a developing country such as Turkey, there is technology diffusion throughout the industry. The application of PCT depends on the government's and the companies' policies for creating a competitive market. Turkish chemical companies can stay in competition if technological investments are made which are equal to international standards.
