Selecting and using chelating agents

Article Abstract:

Chelating agents are used to bind with metal cations to prevent the formation of insoluble salts or to cause other process problems. The three major categories of chelating agents for CPI applications are the aminopolycarboxylic acids, phosponic acids and polycarboxyluic acids. A number of factors should be considered in choosing the chelating agent. The most important among these is the stability of the chelate formed by the metal ion and the chelating agent.

Selecting low-flow pumps

Article Abstract:

An overview of the available pump technologies for low flowrates is provided to help in the selection of the appropriate pump for a chemical plant. Questions to ask include the flow and pressure requirements, the kind of fluid that is being pumped, the accuracy requirement, and requirements for control and power. The types of pumps include centrifugal pumps, rotary positive-displacement pumps, peristaltic pumps and hand pumps.

Selecting secondary containment piping

Article Abstract:

Secondary containment piping systems act as shells to surround pipes and leaks to protect the environment from potential leaks. A guide to selecting workable secondary containment system is presented. The materials which composed the system should be able to withstand thermal and burial loading requirements. In addition, the materials and the system must meet local, state and federal regulations.
