Article Abstract:

Some lessons learned during the advancement of large-scale composting pertaining to processing source separated organics are presented. The lessons learned include, processing food residuals immediately upon arrival, utilizing proven technologies, being diligent with process control and product testing and investing in outreach and education.

Biosolids composting for cities with under 10,000 population

Article Abstract:

A simple composting method effectively implemented by the Lenoir City can be considered as a role model for other cities with populations less than ten thousand. This method of producing class 'A' bio solid products saves significant annual landfill charges.

In-vessel composting

A brief discussion on three general categories of enclosed (in-vessel) aerobic composting is discussed. These include enclosed aerated static piles, agitated beds and vessels, and rotating drums.
