Measuring diversion through home composting

Article Abstract:

Extensive studies on the economic benefits and feasibility of backyard composting of food trimmings reveals the versatility of this strategy in the cost-effective recycling of organic residential wastes. However, the extensive usage of this technique will hinge on effective odor control to mitigate odor emissions from backyard compost collect.

Citizens of Toronto in Ontario, Canada, have actively participated in a backyard composting program, wherein they accumulate residential wastes in compost bins in their backyards. This innovative waste management program has greatly enhanced the overall waste diversion rates in the region.
