Simpler digester systems for smaller dairies

Article Abstract:

The benefits of simpler digester system to create a healthier environment for farm and neighbors are reported. Some of the system described are Upright digester treating only liquids and solids separation, Upright mixed digester treating all manure from herd, and low cost plug flow digester utilizing a plastic liner inside a large street culvert.

Trading carbon credits from methane digester

Article Abstract:

The Dennis Haubenschild dairy farm trades carbon credits from methane captured by their anaerobic digester. The credits are certified and sold on the Chicago Climate Exchange--the first and only established market for greenhouse gas pollution credits in the United States.

Calculating carbon offsets: toward a sustainable solid waste management system

Article Abstract:

Greenhouse gas emissions from the current methods of recycling, composting and disposal of solid waste are calculated by a San Francisco Bay Area company and the carbon offsets determined are presented.
