Forging a consensus on Capitol Hill

Article Abstract:

Nearly 200 Hispanic business owners and managers convened in Washington, DC, on Sep. 18-20, 1995 for the CEO Roundtable organized by this publication. The participants carved out a consensus on affirmative action, health care reform and taxation.

A survey of CEOs of Hispanic companies found that taxation and the burden of government regulation were their top political priorities and that they favor Bob Dole over Pres Clinton by a 2-to-1 margin. Sample responses from 12 CEOs are included.

Chrysler's Jeep tied with the Mercedes-Benz as the number one car favored by Hispanic CEOs. This was revealed in a poll of CEOs at the top 500 Hispanic businesses which also highlighted the growing popularity of sports utility vehicles.
