Improved outlook boosts spirits at Clinic & Show

Article Abstract:

The 1993 Wood Technology Clinic and Show from Mar 24-26 provided workshops that covered everything from value-added manufacturing to environmental marketing. In 1993, attendance rose to 11,777 from a 1992 attendance of 11,464. There were more than 400 exhibitors and 31 seminars. Value-added manufacturing has become important to companies that want to customize their products compared with companies that just offer inexpensive products. The Green movement affects the wood products industry through the marketing, packaging and ingredients used.

Wood producers face Green marketing era

Article Abstract:

Wood products makers' claims concerning forest management and wood's inherent environmental soundness will not be sufficient to satisfy buyers of green products. Green marketing can include environmental certification, which Scientific Certification Systems, Green Seal and some rainforest-protection groups can provide. Home-center chain The Home Depot has already adopted an environmental credo.

Target engineered products to builders most likely to innovate

Article Abstract:
