Laminated components certified for quality

Article Abstract:

The use of laminated wood materials to construct wood windows and doors is expected to significantly increase as Eastern European countries construct and reconstruct dwellings there. This increased demand raises the need for quality certification. Laminated wood components have become an acceptable alternative to solid wood, and Storch Industrie-Anlagen GmbH has developed an internal quality control system for product uniformity. The system certifies plant machinery, layout and performance, and quality declines are reported first to the producer, then to the importer.

Gluing is key component at Norwegian plywood plant

Article Abstract:

Tennfjord Mobelfabrikk A/S focuses on ensuring that its veneered products are of high quality by using an automated gluing technology created by Casco Wood Adhesives that pumps glue evenly through small holes onto the veneer. The use of vacuum drying ensures a quality product with a precise, consistent moisture content. Use of the automated processes has improved productivity at the plants, and the use of glues with less formaldehyde has improved health conditions at the plants as well.

Laminated components bear up to weather test; ten-year trial to test durability of laminated pine window components shows importance of adhesive and material choices, surface protection

Article Abstract:

Use of proper adhesives and wood surface treatments can prolong the durability of laminated pine window components when exposed outdoors according to a 10-year field trial. The test used different types of adhesives, wood surface treatment methods and raw materials such as heartwood and sapwood. Surface treatment of laminated components increases adhesive joints' resistance to dampness. Wood properties and high-resistance class adhesives boost strength and durability of bonded joints.
