Oral Contraceptives and Breast Cancer: A Note of Caution for High-Risk Women

Article Abstract:

Women with a strong family history of breast cancer who use oral contraceptives have a higher risk of breast cancer than women without a family history. The increased risk seems to occur mostly in women who began using contraceptives before 1975. These older contraceptives had higher doses of estrogen than newer brands.
