The automated external defibrillator: Clinical benefits and legal liability

Article Abstract:

The automated external defibrillator (AED) that helps in early defibrillation of ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation to resuscitate individuals with cardiac arrest, and improved survival rates are discussed. As evidence based medicine has defined clinical benefits of AED use, public policy, laws, funding programs and court decisions have served the societal interest of promoting use of AEDs by minimizing legal liability.
