Tumoricidal activity of a novel anti-human DR5 monoclonal antibody without hepatocyte cytotoxicity

Article Abstract:

A new anti-human DR5 monoclonal antibody, TRA-8, includes apoptosis of most tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL)-sensitive tumor cells both in vitro and in vivo. It is suggested that selective, and specific targeting of DR5 with an agonistic antibody might be a safe and effective strategy for cancer therapy.

Bisindolylmaleimide VIII facilitates Fas-mediated apoptosis and inhibits T cell mediated autoimmune diseases

Article Abstract:

The authors address apoptosis, or cell death, a necessary process which, if malfunctioning, can be harmful to health. They present a method of stimulating various processes to allow maximum function while preventing the autoimmune diseases which otherwise might occur.

Signaling through 0X40 (CD134) breaks peripheral T-cell tolerance

Article Abstract:

0X40 signals promote T-cell expansion after the hypo-responsive phenotype is induced and restore normal functionality. Peripheral T-cell tolerance is a mechanism to limit autoimmunity, but represents a major obstacle in diseases such as cancer.
