A look at Aston Science Park

Aston Science Park in Birmingham provides the necessary linkages that a budding technology or technological firm needs to launch its products in the commercial market. Managed by Birmingham Technology Ltd., the science park provides ample space, services, business advice and academic support for budding industries that rely heavily on technological advances. The science park is closely associated with Aston University and other West Midlands universities that supply companies in the park with technical researches and project support.

Article Abstract:

The International Communications for Management's two-day conference in May 1995 provided a venue for discussions on effective product development strategies. The event, which was held at Solihull, UK, brought together speakers who spoke on the value of multidisciplinary teams, timing, customer focus, virtual organizations and rapid prototyping. Other topics which were also discussed include handling internal resistance to changes and developing new products out of the necessity to comply with environmental regulations.

Commercialisation of university technology: a case in robotics

Article Abstract:

Academic researchers are faced with the pressure of commercializing their research findings, working with industry, as governments all over the world establish channels to foster the exploitation of science and to champion technology transfer. The victorious commercialization of an educational innovation is largely contingent on the appropriability enclosing the innovation. It is advisable that researchers consider establishing a spin-out company to optimize the return of their work.
